[citation][nom]spoofedpacket[/nom]Ahh, another 'rage against teh marketing' article./me yawns at all these horrible examples of what multitasking is and is not. Some people spend way too much time worrying about what is in an ad.[/citation]
Of course it's just an ad but still funny.
Maybe I'm being too sympathetic, but if you read the whole paragraph, what it seems (less obviously) to say is that you can do those things with Dual and Quad Cores. I think the error here is in the phrasing. Still bad marketing, or is it really brilliant?
Let's get real, the next generation of software will be parallel now that all the dev tools coming out make it easy to do parallel tasks without writing low level unmanaged code.
Seriously, get a quad now, and you'll be good to go for 5 years.
lawl check email and edit your photo's at the same time guess I need a quad 😉 maybe if I had a quad core I could text and drive or better yet drink and drive!
I really good example is printing. Most desktop printers are Windows (or at least "OS" printers) that depend on the CPU for the bulk of the processing. A typical single core desktop computer will bog down while printing. With at least a dual core processor, you can keep working.
You are all misinterpreting. It says choose from an athlon dual core to a phenom quad core so you can do all that. The meaning is that with multiple cores, come those advantages, not necessarily 4 cores.
Besides this "article" has been posted in the forums for almost a month. Why is it news?
[citation][nom]thaxiskoic[/nom]hah it also says that an ati 4350 is a "Premium" graphics card... fail.[/citation]
Well, compared to an Intel IGP it kind of is.
[citation][nom]fancarolina[/nom]Nice someone should tell Dell I can do all that on my new iPad as well. Oh wait I don't need virus protection.[/citation]
You don't need virus protection because your iPad is just for "dicking around" on the Internet. Or the iPad is the virus... take your pick.
With the way software is being developed these days it wouldn't surprise me at all if you needed 4 cores just to check your email and 2 more if you want to run a spam filter
Bwahaha!
Yes, because I often check emails while editing photo's! It's very handy!
You really need to be an expert to do so!
And my anti-virus?
It's always off. I manually check every 6 months, or when I notice some unusual behavior on my pc.
Running 2 years straight without infections (without even an anti-virus installed).
[citation][nom]Camikazi[/nom]no, you need multi-tasking first[/citation]
While you are true I have to wait for the fall for full multitasking. However last I checked email checking ran in the background and push notifications do the rest of the work.
I hate when companies prey on the computer illiterate. I always see this commercial for a product called "finally fast" and its a crap/spyware/virus scanner for your pc and its such a bad commercial. They start out the commercial with "Does it take more than 3 seconds for your email to load? If it does thats a tell tale sign of a virus!" not to mention the product is for windows but atleast two of the computers that theyre using are macs! It makes me want to punch them right in the face.
