I bought a riser card for my t5500 and was wondering do i have to install ram into the card in order for the riser card to work? i have the CPU already

Solution
Make sure to have one on the main board and one on your riser board. If the system powers up with both CPU's then you can look forward to buying a set of rams from teh smae maker and of teh same specs to populate all your DIMMS.

You have mixed and matched rams? :ouch:

The main problem is, i just bought the riser card for 55$ which is a steal, and the 2nd CPU for 65$ and from what im looking at, its going to cost me more than that just to buy the ram i need

DDR3 is what it supports but there are some pages on the www that show it to be compatible with DDR3L ECC DIMMS. I'd suggest that you load out all the rams on your system with either the Crucial sticks or the Samsung sticks. I'm sure you can find either of them on Ebay...:/

I just got the Riser in the mail, if i were to take 2 other DDR3 sticks and put them into the riser card just FOR now until the 64GB i just ordered comes will the system work? i cant keep the system down for long its hosting stuff,

just wanting to make sure, its ok to put http://imgur.com/a/aDAms in the riser card ? with the other sticks in the MB, i know its more mitch match but its only temporary

ok, what if i took 2 sticks from the main board and put them into the riser card would that work?
