Dell tower will not power on

Dell Inspiron 3647 desktop tower will not power on.

Power supply tested good, tried secondary power supply that is good, still will not power on with the power button, if i hold the black button in the back on the factory power supply, the LED goes green and the fan spins, but other than that no LED is present with the power cable plugged in.

Any thoughts on what might be bad? I am thinking it could be the power button or the motherboard. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

remove the power button connection from the mobo and then jump those 2 pins with a flat screwdriver or similar metal object.

if it powers on then you know the switch itself is bad and needs to be replaced. if it still won't power on, then you have to start looking at other reasons. try that first as it is the easiest thing to try

Problem solved, just removed the CMOS battery and held power button for 10 seconds and then re-inserted. Unit now powers on fine. Thanks

wondering why resetting cmos fixed it. ......
