Hi everybody,

I have a Dell Inspirion 9200 that's about 4 years old. I bought there 100% extended "we'll jump through hoops for you" warranty which expires 01-15-09.

Can anybody recommend any test or something I should look out for? I've only had to call them one time for a battery which they brought to my house, other than that, they've never heard a peep from me.

The only thing on my end that i've noticed is my dvd burner burns slow. And it seems people say they die or need replacement if you burn movies or cd's often. I've updated the drivers, not in PIO mode, etc. (btw, not trying to make this a help me w/ my slow burner post)

I've googled stuff like: laptop warranty expiring soon + recommended test
But i've only read stories of customers who were upset because the warranty just recently expired.

Any tips, links, or anything you can recommend i'd certainly appreciate.

Thank you in advance!

Your normal use should be enough of a test. It certainly won't hurt to use some of the software tests overclockers use to assess stability, such as memtest86+, then Orthos or similar stress-tester under Windows. You can also try booting an Ubuntu "Live" CD and make sure everything works there.

Tap the F12 key prior to booting Windows, it will give you a list of boot options, including running diagnostics. Go through all the diag test options and see what you find...
