My desktop icons has shadows around them and the font is
inclosed in a box. I have unchecked the "show shadows" and
I have gone to the system>advance>visual effects. Nothing
seems to be working for me. Could someone please help me
with this?

Thank you for your time and patience.

2 things to look at.

1. Go to Control Panel/System/Advanced Tab. In the Performance section,
click the Settings Button. Click the Visual Effects Tab and scroll down to
the bottom of that list. Select the "Use drop shadows for icon labels on the
desktop" option.

2. Right click the Desktop and select Arrange icons by and make sure that
"Lock web items on desktop" is not checked.
