Question Desktop PC: Time and Date Not Updating After Power Disconnect

I'm encountering a peculiar issue with my desktop PC. Whenever I unplug the power cable for a while and then reconnect it, the time and date on my computer remain stuck at the older time when I unplugged it. It seems like the system is not updating the time and date accordingly.

From my understanding, the time and date on a desktop PC should be maintained by a CMOS battery, which powers the Real-Time Clock (RTC) chip on the motherboard. However, in my case, even after reconnecting the power, the time and date do not synchronize to the current time.

I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem or if you have any insights into what might be causing it. Could it be that my CMOS battery is depleted and needs replacement? Or perhaps there is an issue with the RTC chip or the motherboard itself?

I would greatly appreciate any guidance or suggestions on how to resolve this issue. If you have encountered a similar problem before and found a solution, please share your experiences. Additionally, if you could provide any troubleshooting steps or advice on how to diagnose and fix the problem, it would be immensely helpful.

Thank you in advance for your time and assistance.

BIOS can not update time, it can only maintain it. If battery is removed or failing it will display time that was set with latest BIOS version, Windows can update date and time and set it in BIOS too.
Question, do other BIOS settings also go back to defaults? That also happens from same cause. Easiest way to check isto replace battery with new one and go from there.
