Hi,

After a recent crash whilst using Microsoft Word, my desktop shortcuts (to hyperlinks) no longer open up the actual web page. Rather, it opens up a new tab in my browser with a short text file containing the address of the web page. For instance, if I click on the Guardian newspaper shortcut I get the following text file:

[InternetShortcut]
URL=https://www.theguardian.com/uk

I'm using Windows 10 Home 64-bit and my default browser is Brave. Yes, I've gone through the various settings (default apps, default type type, default protocol) to make sure they are all associated with Brave - which they are. So now I'm stuck.

Any ideas?

DANNY

Solution
Try changing the default back to Edge (temporarily) to see if the issue goes away.
If yes, leave it there and fully uninstall and reinstall the Brave browser.
