I turned off my desktop, then i went to sleep, when i pressed the on button in the morning, nothing happens... i searched for a solution, but its still the same... I opened my desktop, checked the power supply connected to the motherboard, but its connected.. so i left it, then when i returned, i plugged the computer, then its fine again... most mornings i need to wait or press the on button for 5 min before it turns on, before i see any power indicator in my pc.. My desktop is i think 5 or 6 months old... i also noticed that every time it turns on my time is wrong.. please help...

Solution
make sure the cpu is locked in.some new mb now have more then one year warrranty. with the unit serial number see if it under warranty. if it is see if the vendor can do a cross ship.
I think your CMOS battery is dying or dead. It is a small watch battery that keeps track of the clock. Easily replaceable. You'll find it on your motherboard. Buy a CR2032 coin battery from BestBuy, remove the old battery from the slot. It looks like a shiney coin. Pull the little teeth back, remove the battery and slip the new one in and make sure it's sitting in the slot flush. Put it back together and try to start it back up. You may need to configure things in your CMOS/BIOS settings if the PC doesn't boot cleanly.

I tried taking the battery in my broken laptop... the result was the same.. so, as you suggested, i bought a new CR2032 battery.. it wont open for a few min then it opened.. im going to try if it will open tomorrow without the wait... appreciate the help...

If the new battery doesn't help, my next steps would be to try starting the computer directly by touching the power header pins on the motherboard with a screwdriver and seeing if it starts immediately. A bit of a sidestep, but want to make sure the header wiring or the start button itself even are the issue.

Next time you start it with the next battery, see if the time resets again. Could actually be two separate issues if the time works but the odd power on issue remains.

the new battery didnt help.. i tried touching the pin with the screwdriver... same result.. the time doesn't reset, it freezes.. when i turn of my computer at 8pm, when i open it its on 9pm or 10pm...

Sounds like a problem definitely electrical in nature, and the two issues may be related. Next thing I would try is removing the new battery, unplug the power cable from the back of the PC, unplug the 20/24 pin and 6/8pin cables from the motherboard. Wait 5 mins, then put everything back together before plugging the PC back in. Also try to touch your power supply at least once before working inside the machine to avoid shocking the motherboard.

If that doesn't help, my next ideas are:

1. Try a different power supply
2. The motherboard is getting ready to go

CMOS battery really? I would point to the PSU as the source of the problems. OP - what are your exact system specs? list them in this order:

- Case
- PSU
- CPU
- Motherboard
- RAM
- Storage
- GPU
- Operating System

Tower case
Neutron ATX 700w
i5 7500
ECS H110M4-C2H
8gb of ram
I have 4 ( others from broken laptops) 1tera, 2x 500gb and 300gb
GTX 1050TI
Windows 10 Pro

I think it really is the mobo... i think its has something to do with the temperature...i thought maybe it wont open every morning because its cold... so i did an experiment... i heated the side of the case where the motherboard is most closest to with a lighter... then i plugged it.. then it opened... is the motherboard dying or somthing?

It turns out.. all i need to do is clean the motherboard with a blower... now im not having anymore issues... thanks to the people who replied
Hello, I have same problem as you, what exactly did you do to fix the problem?

I tried to clean the motherboard but nothing happened. I also tried to change the battery but still nothing happened.

Here having the same issue. PC seems dead in the morning with no signs of power (today I discovered when I plug a usb stick in it lights up). It remains unresponsive until I take it apart and then it magically works, it's not a power button nor an atx AC cable issue. I think the problem is between PSU and MB, today I cleaned it up but the problem remained but I noticed a couple caps when touched sounded a little like aluminium foil while others were rock solid. When it decides to work it does properly (cinebench and all) which confuses me. I'll probably replace one of those but can't do both.
I have a Evga w1 which I've come to realize everyone knows it sucks
My MB is a gigabyte a320m s2h and my system is near a year old
I'll get a new CMOS battery just in case and try to borrow any spare PSU to try discarding those
