I have a system that when you plug in a mass storage device (Flash Drive, External Hard Drive, or even a printer with onboard storage) the system will see it but fail to load the driver. In Device Manager it lists the device with the yellow explanation mark with the error Code 10 Device Cannot Start. These are the following things I have tried.
1. Uninstalled (selecting the option to remove driver) the USB Hub driver and reinstalled it through Device Manager.
2. Updating the driver for the USB Hub and devices in question through Device Manager.
3. Ran the Hardware Troubleshooter through Control Panel.
4. Updated the BIOS.
5. Installed a add-in PCI USB card.
6. System Restore.
7. Removed Upper and Lower filters for the USB Hub in the registry.
8. Removed and let Windows rebuild the INFCACHE 1 file under DriverStore.
None of these options fix the issue. Keyboards and mice work just fine. Also the flash drive and other devices will work outside of Windows and of course also work on other machines. Any thoughts?
