There is a heatsink, it was just taken off to take some shots of the north bridge itself.
Follow the link that labbbby provided, there are more pictures of the mobo.

Posted the VRM pics just for you.

I am following one or 2 thread on XS see what's going on.

I think somebody may have asked this already, but why is the southbridge on the 680 board actively cooled (and not on the RD600)? Also odd that the north on the 680 has a smaller passive heatsink that the RD600. Am I missing something here?

Pretty strang yeah. 24+ lanes, etc. Still is pretty weird that the Northbridge is not cooled actively as well.

Might have to do with lesser airflow in the area of the soutbridge or space constraint. Dunno...

Labbbby... would you mind posting that link for the Ramlist I see mentioned? I went through the whole topic and must have missed it! LOL This getting old sucks!

Thanks!!

LOL, never mind, I found it on a different thread! Thanks!

I guess if the CPU fan is supposed to cool it we better not get a scythe ninja or the like (rear facing fans). Although I guess, in general, that area is better cooled by system fans. Also weird that they mention the 680i as running hotter than the RD600, yet the 680i has a much smaller heatsink.

Yeah that's kinda what I was thinking when I said lesser airflow in this area...

Expect for the fact that the Northbridge handles the memory which obviously could contribute to put more heat, the southbridges are getting pretty crowded nowadays!

Tony rejected a board...
But i'm very consoled that the Vking Shamino has got one and Anandtech another, with those two I can see its true initial potential.

On other news: 3lf had DFIGASM when he saw the copper NB heatsink. Oh yeah, and check the blog.

Hehe sweet, gotta like it. Gonna be interesting!

Gotta love the DFIgasm 8)

Yeah I read about tony having diner with Oscar and rejecting the board to get a final sample :x

Yeah anybody who hangs in the Other for too long kinda loose some (most) of their morals =).

Pretty much why I stopped posting there, still read a lot,big wingy and bastage fan 8)
*chill down the spine*

Ninja probably has enough money to buy out DFI and obtain one right now... but then again, there is the "anti-trust" laws and "shareholder voting rights..."

8 days till release, fa la la la la la, la la la la.

Tony from XS has a RD600

have promised to wait for DFI to release me before i post benches, plus i travel back to the UK over the weekend so the earliest would be sunday 10th anyway.

I will test as soon as i can, but I am under NDA, i can show pics but will have to ask DFI what and what can not be posted.

So much for the NDA being lifted on the 4th :x

From a Anand editor:
he NDA will be lifted next week. MSRP is around $230 and expect prices to be higher at retail until stock exceeds demand

Ewwwww... the box itself makes me not want to buy it for fear of looking like a nubtard...

Everything else looks fairly nice, but the color scheme... is killing me... all the cables are yellow??!?!? So if I want to color co-ordinate my case, I have to somehow find yellow cables for everything?!?!? Ugh...

Other than that, I'm waiting for some real reviews.
