I actually bought it when it was 32.99 yeasterday =).

I will be reviewing them SATA Burner and SATA reader when I get my mother board. I'll tell you if it install windows and if it's comptabile with nero 6/7 and stuff like that =).
If DaClan is intersted should have it sometime near xmas

I have a few IDe drive lying around in case but for cable management this is gonna r0x0r! =)

True, main reason is for cable managment, but the DFI board has round IDE cables, which I might as well put to use... shrug... Not to mention I should save all my SATA slots for my HDD's (Trust me.. I will have lots and lots more hdd's...)

That and remeber that the Power connectors are the SATA one as well. Make sure you have enough on your PSU, extension/converter/splitter are annoying IMO.

If you have many HD I suggest staying with round cables or folding the cables neatly...

I will have a maximum of 4 internal HD at all time so I am Ok with 2 SATA optical taking the 6 slots from a 680i or 6/8 of the RD600

If I had more than 3-4 hard drives, I would build a NAS out of an old PC and move the extra ones into there. More than 4 hard drives would start adding too much heat and noise IMO.

Depends on the case though.
In the Tj09, the HD are totally separated from the whole computer and have 3 mesh grills surrounding them, I will put a super quiet 120mm in between the two cage with 2 HDs. I could fit 6 no problem.

As for noise, well the Raptors are noisy not much can be done about that eheh.

Live On DFI web site.

You guys can get the manual. Might be a good idea since we all know you won't read it when you receive the board  .

Now that I think about you probably never read it but this time you will because you need more details since ou can't have it 8)

Meh... Directron is large enough to get discounts, but not that much :x

Actually I find that with HDD's, the best thing to do is wait for both manufactuer and reseller rebates to come together, and then you can get them for around 10-15 cents per gig if you're lucky. Which is what I've done. Not to mention the 8 HDD's I have were bought over the span of 3 years... back in the dark days where 400-500 gig hdd's were "GINORMOUS"...

Kinda sad though that I have a little over 2 TB now (Bought another HDD) but a guy buying 3 750 gig's can top that in no time at all... but it'll take him forever to fill it up 😀

Damn we are being teased!!!!!!!!!!!

Memory

# Four 240-pin DDR2 DIMM sockets
# Supports DDR2 667 and DDR2 800 DIMMs
# Supports dual channel (128-bit wide) memory interface
# Supports up to 8GB system memory

Kinda funny they don't support DDR2 533.... I assume they will have the divider which corresponds to 533 so we can keep the memory synchronous with the FSB, but just an oddity I saw.

Lately, I have been buying 250 and then 320gb HDs since they have been in the pricing sweet spot for the last year or so, but it only seems to take me about 2 months to fill 300 gigs. Then I spend another 3-4 months before I buy another only downloading stuff that I really want and cleaning up the stuff I don't really need.

Well there was rumor it would. Discussion around that is that 8X8 is really damn close in performance, makes a little difference in bongholio points that's it.

Making it 8X8 reduces the chip complexity, reduce layout complexity , thus making it more cost effective and let you have a better layout.

I don't know much about 'dongle less' X fire dunno if it could play a role there...

How'd you sketch up your Project: Dream box? that looked quite nice.... I assume some version of CAD or something. I am relegated to using pencil and paper and my imagination.... assuming it's turned on lol.

Google Sketch-up.

Thank you Ninja 😀

I have a gentleman that is going to do a sketchup of the DFI RD600 and the DFI 680I just for the hell of it. He also uses sketch-up to do many other things.

He did these....he is far beyond my skill

He even has a site filled with computer stuff that people have sketched using Google Sketch-Up

I hope DFI will be able to overcome the bandwith issues and provide excellent performance.. but that wont be seen until we have a performance freak reviewing the board *prays for Coolaler*

Very nice RAID and voltage options!!

The voltage options are similar to those on the RD580 (imagine that lol). The DFI BIOS is quite overwhelming to a newb (thanks ninja  ). I've had my RD580 for a year (give or take) and I still don't know what all the options do. It is a daunting task and, to me, a hell of alot of fun.

I am going to bust out my hickory stick and beat the living sh!t out of you..... (name the song  ) Just kidding. Ninja you just enjoy toying with us don't you? 😀
