[citation][nom]superflykicks03[/nom]anyone else start playing though D2 to get pumped up for this?[/citation]

That is actually a good idea. I think I will go ahead and re install D2.

I tried this a couple years ago. The games graphics are unbelievably dated. Even when D2 was released, it's graphics were pretty bad because they had not planned on using 3D animations as it was new technology at the time. To rush ahead to use some 3D animation, they ended up with a pretty ugly game for even the time it was released, and it's limited to 800x600 or lower resolutions. Ugh.

[citation][nom]bystander[/nom]How was D2 not spam clicking?[/citation]

Oh it was spam clicking, but that over a decade ago, pre WoW, pre Skyrim. At the time it was acceptable because it was really one of the few ways you could do an rpg, and it was preferable to turn based combat. But now in an era of fast paced 3rd person free camera rpgs it really is archaic and no longer holds the appeal it once did.

To me it's as bad as if GTA stayed top down or Fall Out did instead of going full 3D, and I love the 3 game of both those series, but with Diablo 3 Blizzard went the safer approach of just delivering a sequel somewhat like the last game, but for me it doesn't work because that type of sequel should have come out in 2003 and its not 2003, its 2012. The franchise needed an update to bring it into the modern age and they left it back pre WoW. Blizzard already created a better control and camera system and engine setup for RPGs, they just used it in an MMO. They could have had a Diablo with modern Skyrim quality graphics with a free form camera 3rd person perspective like they did WoW, but instead you get spam click isometric like its 2003.

Which is just sad. Like removing the world pvp, like delaying the arena pvp, like selling out with the credit card AH.

It sounds to me like you don't like the Diablo style game, but there are a lot of people who still like it. Look at Torchlight, it was quite popular, only because there are a lot of people who want a diablo style game. I welcome a sequal, we have Skyrim for open world types of games. We have WoW for MMO games. Diablo is the isometric hack and slash. They all have a place, and there are people who still want this type of game.

Just yesterday, before I even knew Diablo 3 was coming, I installed Titan Quest again. I was interested in a simple straight forward game I didn't have to think much to play. Diablo 3 would have worked too.

Given that it is being tested by WoW players, I imagine it will be as pathetic and easy as wow is.

Stand in the fire and acquire loot, everyone wears the latest kit.

I'll check it out using someone elses account or a free trial if they do one. But the pre release info isn't looking promising.

Looks to me like they are making an over engineered browser game.

That's exactly how I got hooked into the original Diablo. I hope they remember how successful the trial install was and offer the same thing sometime soon after launch. I miss the shareware software model that was so common a couple decades ago.

I re-installed Diablo 1, I had to listen to Tristram and a few levels down.

Torchlight, was a great attempt at a budget competitor, and diablo clone fix, but it was not a great game in any way, shape or form. It had zero replayability factor, and units were indistinguishable. However, it was a very nice $20 game.

Recommended retail price of 60$ is a little bit too much. I think Blizzard is here to milk us. By the end of the year D3 price will probably fall down. It should have been 40-45$ for the opening, than more people would buy it instead of resorting to piracy. As if Wow wasn't bringing enough cash...

I'm not sure what is fair and what isn't, but PC games have released at about $50 for over 20 years now, mean while the cost of living has about doubled.

Good luck resorting to piracy on this game. The online validation model seems to work pretty good. Someone would would have to crack the game to bypass it and then you still would only be able to play by yourself.

I don't think there is any excuse to resort to piracy on a product that you want and $15 cheaper is definitely not going to make a difference. If the games where 10 dollars there would still be a ton a piracy although it would be lessened a little bit. Someone people just refuse to pay for software......period.

I think that is the benchmark for a high quality game... Yes the graphics look bad, and 800X600 on a 1080p monitor is hard to look at. But I haven't played D2 for 5 years and I love it now as much as I did then. I forget quickly how the game looks and walk away from my computer saying "where the hell did the last 3 hours go." A truly great game.

Plus, your desktop looks ultra-sharp upon exiting diablo, an unforseen bonus ;)

$60 is just fair in my book.
honestly i think all the other company's are milking their game prices. even if they are selling them for $40 or $50. think about all the games that were released that you beat in 8 hours of full play time, crysis anybody?
rocksmith "seriously?" 79.99
Gods and Heroes 79.99
Reckoning: Kingdoms of Amalur 59.99
all wallmart prices...
these games cant be up to the same quality and standards as blizzards games.. NO WAY!

when you play the blizzard games, you are playing a finely crafted beautiful piece of art worthy of being stored in a time capsule.

the music and voice acting is top.

it is very clear to see that blizzard puts far more effort and time "obviously" on their games than other company's. the expense of making these masterpiece games has to reflect upon their sell price..
considering all the effort and time they put into these games.. we are practially stealing when we buy it for $60.

turn up the bass, put on your finest headphones and listen to this, and try and tell me this is not a epic piece of work. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZVHzbs1dgnI
