""I pre-ordered Diablo 3 years ago expecting a masterpiece but instead got a master disaster of massive proportions," reads one review. "Due to blizzards underestimating launch day I can't even connect to their servers to play. You're wondering "oh just play single player!" but I can't because of the need for a constant online connection. Not to mention the loss of features and feeling of the last two games.""

Can I please have your address so I can come beat you up. Whiny nerd-linger!!! :)

You know, I don't have the game, but if I bought it and couldn't play it at all... I would think that is the very definition of the "perfect zero" score. Zero, as in "unable to even be rated."

Lots of angry people here... Diablo was one of my first PC games EVER and I sank hundreds of hours in to it. So needless to say I was pretty happy when they said they were making Diablo III. Maybe I am more forgiving, but I just don't see how some of you can be so disappointed. I agree the always on requirement is a pain and caused most of the issues on launch day but to out right refuse to play the game because of it??

I think it is a pretty damn good game so far and I have no idea how you can say the graphics are terrible. Torchlight II is cartoony... Diablo III is not... Torchlight II uses low poly models... Diablo III uses higher poly models... Torchlight II uses basic shadow generation.... Diablo III uses advanced shadow generation... I could keep going on and on.

The game had some hiccups during launch but it isn't as bad as everyone makes it sound. When I couldn't log in I did something else, simple as that. The character customization is dumbed down but the game mechanics have been ramped up. As a Demon Hunter I can drop down a snare and roll back then use my alt far to do quick damage. That is leaps and bounds beyond holding the left mouse button over an enemy to attack them.

You know what this reminds me of?? All the Battlefield 2 "vets" getting pissy about Battlefield 3. Things changes in 12 years and I think, other than the always on requirement, they made massive improvements to the game since Diablo II.

[citation]Diablo 3 will be nearly impossible to pirate and play thanks to its dependance on Battle.net[/citation]

Well, apparently the Pirate Bay already has an offline version from what some on the forums have been saying, so I guess was only impossible to pirate for 2 days.

Don't know why people thought the online requirement was to prevent piracy. WoW has private servers up and it's an MMO. This was easily predicatable.

I have to agree with averoth... I've played other games like torchlight and titan quest... fun titles absolutely but not in the same league as D3 graphics wise. I even watched a youtube comparo posted here and the guy is gushing about how Titan Quest looks as good or better than D3 and I'm thinking "ahh... did he watch the video he made?".

I definitely agree with those who think the persistent connection thing is a load of BS... and the consolified leveling system is not my cup of tea either, but on 3 systems we're playing it on (including one MAC... GASP!!) the game is stable, fast, good looking and fun at resolutions up to 2550x1440. No it doesn't look as good as some of the FPS and RPG titles out there, and some of the beta and coming titles in the ARPG genre look amazing... but it's not a bad looking game.

I've got about 10 hours into the game. Haven't had any errors or connection problems. Graphics look fine to me. Monk gameplay is fun. Co-workers have been enjoying the coop play, a lot. I don't understand any of these complaints.

As far as I know, all the mobs and quests are controlled server-side just like WoW, so not sure how they can have an offline version of D3. WoW eventually had a server emulator for private servers, but the volunteers who made it couldn't keep up with new content and bug fixes very quickly.

[citation][nom]wildkitten[/nom]Please show your evidence where Vivendi told Kotick he had no say so over Blizzard? The truth is you can not. Vivendi placed Blizzard as a subsidiary of Activision Blizzard. This means Acitivision Blizzard OWNS Blizzard. Bobby Kotick is the CEO of Activision Blizzard. Why would Vivendi make Kotick the boss of Activision Blizzard and place Blizzard under ActiBlizz and then tell Kotick he can't have ful control over the division they made him boss over? This imagining that Kotick has no say so over Blizzard is getting old. Go to your boss's boss and tell him or her they aren't your boss and see what they say.[/citation]

invisible walls on game trailers and industry insiders talking about it, i cant quote the exact episode, but i think it was within the last 6 months.

they call it activision blizzard so its a united game decision, but bobby has no control over the blizzard side. the name is for shareholders.

>Diablo 3 will be nearly impossible to pirate and play
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Some of the nerd rage here is just out of control. Seriously, did you all expect everything to go 100% smooth? This happens with all of Blizzards major releases, a couple days after the release everything settles down and issues are fixed. Then everybody forgets that they ever had any connection issues and goes back to enjoying the game.

I waited one day before downloading my copy and I've had one error so far, it kicked me out, I got back in, no big deal! Oh and I think the game is a ton of fun, graphics are just fine once you adjust a couple settings and story is engaging.

I can say I've found the game pretty stable so far - few errors and I'm enjoying it quite a bit. The degree of nerd rage in here is pretty overwhelming - show me ONE game that hasn't had any issues at all at startup. The issues here have impacted a larger number of users than I'm sure Blizzard would like, but they also seem to have been fixed pretty quickly. No complaints at my end, and I'm pretty tired of the tantrums over the always-on connection - either don't buy the game, or shut up and deal with, but either way quit your griping!

Game cannot be played.

Let me repeat that: The game cannot be played.

There is a gamebreaking bug that is affecting thousands, probably millions. It is a bug that prevents them from playing the game they paid full price for.

That is a BIG problem.

While I agree bugs are not a big issue, these particular bugs or underestimations of server load prevent the game from being played at all as the person above repeated. If you bought a car and it didn't work at all, you'd be upset. If you bought a car and a power window didn't work, you'd be fine with that and wait for it to be fixed.
Myself, I've had a couple of days of error 37, and now some lag issues (even though I have 20 meg internet). I can deal with the lag, but since I can only play about 1-2 hours a day, not being able to play during those times is pretty annoying.

[citation][nom]imnotageek[/nom]I didn't log in at midnight. About 5 hours after. Day 1 game play was smooth. Day 2, I spent more time play, and it has been smooth as well. The experience has been great. I got to play solo, as well as with my friends online. No doubt, there are quite a number of players got affected. I suspect there are many more "quiet" ones who are busy playing and have no time for forums or Metacritics.Diablo III, loving it so far.[/citation]

you got that right. why would you post or rate the game in some site when your too busy playing? lol. loving the game.

as for the server being down, i have been playing for the last 5 days and the server was down for a total of 2 hours. at least for me.

offline single player would be great. lessens the load on the server.

What about those of us who live in rural areas with only satellite and cellular internet availible, just

purchased 3 copies of diablo and 3 brand spanking new machines to run it on high, just to find out that

their connection requirements are so hefty that I can only play 1 client at a time, so much for the old days

of lan party play with 4 games with 4 peeps playing. Blizz has managed to hurt only those who have paid

for the game, the pirates will still pirate, duping/etc could be prevented by simply making offline mode

chars and items locked to offline and completely seperate from battlenet servers. Love the fact that I

bought 3 copies of this game and can only play 1, where if i was willing to play pirated versions I could be

hosting a server on my local network and playing all 3 with no lag.

I don't even play it now. I log on check auction, leave.

Diablo 3

If any of my friends decide to play, I log on and play a bit, that's it.

There is no skill to the game. If you have the right gear you can beat it.

If you do not have the right gear you will die all the time.

Game is Gear driven Not skill Driven, any clown with the right gear can beat it.
