Did clean install with upgrade cd by mistake

Had xp and clean installed to vista with upgrade cd, now i only have 30 days to activate. HEEEEEEEELP i dont wanna spend hundreds paying for vista. Any workaround?

What do you mean, you can't activate Vista? If you had xp, you should be ok with using vista, microsoft just has the software phone home so to speak and checks out your system to make sure your not pirating it or something. They had that in XP as well. If you bought the upgrade cd, you should be ok to just activate, it shouldn't cost anything, never has for me.

Deosnt your "upgrade CD" have a key?

Do a goggle for "New install from Vista Upgrade CD" . Basicly all you need to do now is put the CD in again and from the Autorun do Upgrade and reinstall it again and put your upgrade key in.. Thats what I did, by accident lo..

I "clean" installed Vista Ultimate on the same drive I had XP installed on... the only difference was I didn't format the drive before-hand. It installed, accepted my product key and activated flawlessly. So before you panic and go off the deep end, type in your product key and activate it.

Of course, if you used less than legal means to do this, then forget it. Either buy the product you attempted to install or just go back to XP.
