I was building my new pc and when i was installing the cpu, i forgot to open the lock and i just let it drop in. Will this in any way damage my CPU unit? If it does, how can i fix it?(its an amd fx6300 and an msi 760 p34

Solution
It could, but that doesn't mean it did. If it turns on it's fine. If you haven't put the heatsink on yet I would take the CPU out, check to see if any pins are bent and if not put it in right. If pins are bent it's going to be a pain to straighten them out so they go in the holes they are suppose to and make proper contact with the socket

Depends on if you tried to install the heat sink before you realized your mistake. As others mentioned you may have bent a couple pins if you did put the heat sink on. If it was seated right and no heat sink opened it and it dropped in its fine.
