Did i install my Asus GTX 980 STRIX Correctly ?

So i got it yesterday and hooked it up today and im not sure if i connected the cables from the card to the PSU correctly but everything is working fine except that im not getting as good of a performance as i should get judging by other peoples videos and benchmarks. My specs are
I7 3770K, ASUS GTX 980 STRIX, 8gb of kingston hyperX, PSU is chieftec CFT 650 14CS, and motherboard is Asus P8Z77-V LX

well most first timers who goof things up resort to programs like ddu and show up here at toms for help [ lol]

that's a common thing you see in these card issues threads .. they did everything but whats stated in the drivers release notes .. hmmm...

If you check out techpower up .Fury x review the gtx 980 is in the high 40' s with 4x Masa.

With 8 they would be at around 30 unless they made a mistake

what about device manager ? ever use that ??

Device Manger does't remove all the registry entries...

@ this point we haven't determined if the OP has a software or Hardware problem.
The problem can be solved by trail and error....

I remember getting around 60 fps give or take with playing crysis at 1440p with my gtx 980 strix with an OC. I remember that 1440p is about as demanding as 1080p 8 x msaa.
