I was surfing hardware sites and when I searched Amazon for 9800X3D there was a listing for $399. I hesitated, then took the plunge. Hoping I was not being scammed by the third-party seller which always makes me nervous. Seller listed as:

Computer accessories-us-zzs

What are the best ways to confirm a legit CPU when it arrives? Is it better to just cancel this order and wait for a more-reputable seller?

1| Inspect packaging to see if the box is a box with a processor in it and not a brick in a box.
2| Inspect the processor before dropping it onto a motherboard's socket
3| Drop it onto a known working motherboard with the latest BIOS update and see if your processor was a fake.
4| Returns aren't possible...?

dwd999 is right who would sell a 9800x3D at LESS than MSRP? It would be interesting to see what they send you and if its some sort of sophisticated scam (e.g. one using counterfeit, but working AMD CPUs that have been remarked/rebadged).
