Did I make the right choice?

Just placed an order with newegg and am not sure if I got the right componets.

Here is what I ordered:
MB K8N Neo Platinum MSI MS-7030 N82E16813130457 1 $126.00
CPU AMD 64 |3000+ ATHLON 64 RTL N82E16819103424 1 $175.00 (clawhammer) What is the difference from this vs newcastle?
CASE ANTEC|Sever Tower SLK2600AMB N82E16811129117 1 $59.00

What I will be using from my existing system:

power supply fortron fsp350-60pn(pf)
Crucial 2x 256 pc 2100 CL2.5
Seagate baracuda 120gb
MSI ATI RX9800PRO Video Card, 128MB DDR, 256-bit, DVI/S-Video, 8X AGP, Model "RX9800PRO-TD128" -RETAIL

Since I don't really keep up with things I am not sure if this is the best choice for componets. The only reason I even upgraded is for gaming. Is there anything that I should change such as memory (this is the one area I have the least ammount of knowledge) or maybe the case? Or did I make the wrong selections entirely? I can still change my order since I placed it yesterday.

What should I do?

You'll probably want a bigger PSU, somewhere in the neighbourhood of 400+ Watts. Antec TruePower are good units.

Yur memory is gonna be a big bottleneck in your system. PC2100 runs at 133MHz (DDR266). Your gonna want at least PC3200, which runs at 200MHz (DDR400).

If you plan on overclocking, get PC3500 or faster.

Intel P4 2.4B MSI 645E Max-U Mobo 1GB DDR333 ATI R9600XT 128MB SB Live 5.1 Samsung 120GB
Maxtor 120GB LG DVD+-R/RW WIN2K PRO SP4

You'll defaintly want new memory, that is going to hold you back. Your power supply will be borderline, but you may be able to get by with it.

I would try and get at least PC3200. Faster if you plan on overclocking, CL 2.5 will work great and won't cost you a fortune. If you do get new memory, run some benchmarks before and after, you'll notice both your memory and CPU scores will go up.

Its always best to match your memory speed with your FSB speed. Crucial is good memory. Mushkin is good RAM that is generally also fairly cheap price wise. Crucial, Mushkin, Kingston, Micron, unless you plan on overclocking your RAM just buy whatever is on sale. Always buy brand name RAM, its never the place to cut costs.

So basically unless you plan on overclocking, just pick whatever is on sale, and is a name brand chip.

The FSP-350 outputs 410W and IS a good power supply.

Your power supply is a good unit, so I'd try it. After all, when FSP power supplies DO overload, they simply reset, no harm done.

Your memory will hold you back, but you can always get different stuff later. I'd recommend Crucial Ballistix.

You'd better get some good memory in there or I'll spank you like a naughty step-child! Overclocking helps A64's more than P4's!

Abit IS7 - 2.8C @ 3.5ghz - Mushkin PC4000 (2 X 512) - Sapphire 9800Pro - TT 420 watt Pure Power
Samsung 120gb ATA-100 - Maxtor 40gb ATA - 100
Sony DRU-510A - Yellowtail Merlot

you might want to consider getting the Newcastle version of the A64 3000 instead of the claw. It runs faster MHZ wise while the claw has the 1mb cache, but Ive heard the xtra mhz perform better than the xtra cache and the Newcastles are reportedly better OCr's

P4 1.8a @ 2.25, Radeon 9800Pro 380/340, 512mb Corsair xms DDR333, Audigy 2ZS on Boston Acoustics B7800 4.1's, Western Digital 7200rpm 80gb SE, Antec True Power 480W

the chance of this powersupply overloading is like NONE.

he could get away with a 250 true rated power supply. the guy has one harddrive! most basic setup possible.

350 is overkill

In THG java-chat, the moderators tested loads of psu's on systems with 3-4 hardrives and all the pci's slots in use. it took about 180 watts to hold the system fine :)

fortron thingy should be pumping that much at least.

You bought a mobile processor. Not to worry, it should work fine. No heat spreader though, so it wont OC all that well. It may perform a little worse than the newcastle, but only by a % or 2.
If you want to go cheep on the ram Samsung's own brand ram is fine. I always buy ram locally, as compatability could be an issue.
