[SOLVED] Did I properly plug in my PSU?..

I've never installed a GPU before and I'm a tech potato and learning (trying to), the mobo cords are all connected, I'm about 95% sure I got that right, I'm concerned I plugged in the GPU cords wrong though.

Cpu cord, in the CPU location
PCIE Cord for the GPU
SATA for the SSD's
24pin for the MOBO
Peripheral for the LED (I think they're LED? Honestly, I just put things where my old PSU had things plugged in, I just know one is in use)

I smelled a weird plasticy smell after running it for 3+ hours and I've never had that before but I've also never self-installed a PSU. I turned it off, made sure everything was secure, turned it back on and smelled it again after 1+ hours. I also got a new GPU but I've installed those before 2070 super but I doubt thats the culprit. I smell it while it's beneath my desk on a stand, it's not strong enough to smell outside of a room or to notice it outright walking in, but being next to it on the PC I notice it and it's there and it's concerning since it's my first time installing myself. I bought another 750 RM corsair incase it might be a bad psu.

Corsair RMX Series, RM750x, 750 Watt, 80+ Gold Certified, Fully Modular Power Supply
Couldn't find a proper picture online, but this is the same setup it has.

I have 2 SATA cords because one cord doesn't reach my 3rd ssd. Both of the mobo plugs are in use as well, all the arrows are where the cords are. Thanks!

Yeah... looks alright. What do you mean by LED exactly? I'm assuming that's a molex you plugged for the LEDs(RGB I'm assuming)... it's fine.

The burning smell is usually normal on new PSUs. There's always residue left, from soldering, and when the unit gets hot emanates a smell. Give it a few days and it should go away (wow that rhymed).

So pretty much... everything works fine, but there's a smell and you want to know if the smell is normal?

It's the no-clean flux they put on the PCB before it goes through the wave solder machine. It's normal and it will burn off in time.
Gotcha thanks! I just never experienced it with other PSU's before but I had EVGA prior, is it more common with Corsair or have I just been lucky in not experiencing it?

Lost of reasons. And depends on the EVGA PSU.

If it's made by Superflower, they outsource PCBA to an SMT factory that cleans the boards before shipping them to Superflower for final assembly.

Also, did the PSU have a zero RPM fan mode? If the PSU is mounted in a case with the fan pointing down, heat rises into the PCB and will make it hotter than a PSU that has an always on fan or one that is mounted with the fan pointing up.

Another reason could be the flux used. If they use rosen instead of no-clean, then they have to clean the flux. That's why motherboards smell like isopropyl alcohol when new.

It does have a zero RPM fan mode but not a button like most. (I genuinely have no idea how to use or control it tbh) It is mounted in the case pointing down (Out of the case) since the vent is on the bottom right and out the back. I did go ahead and test the new psu I had on hand as well, the same scent I've been smelling is all over the packaging of the new 750rm corsair so I assume it is exactly as you claimed it being the no-clean flux.

No. I know the RMx has a zero RPM fan mode. I was asking about the previous PSU. All of the things I posted were responding to why your previous PSU may not have had the same smells.
Oh my previous came pre-built in my cyberpowerPC HPG-500BR-F12S high power 500w 80+ bronze but it seems to be one of their 'standard' psu's if it did have a scent I can't only assume it was ran before hand since it was prebuilt. The older PSU's I got myself in a previous build that didnt have scent was
EVGA Supernova 750 G1, 80+ Gold 750W, Fully Modular
