did my graphics card go bad?

Okay so I remember my graphics card showing up through device manager. its a radeon 7870. I don't seem to see it through device manger. Does this its not working anymore or what? I only see intel hd graphics when i look under display adapters. any help is appreciated.

Are you connecting your monitor trough the video card?
Can you play games like before?

Try reinstalling drivers.

can you answer my question about knowing whether or not my graphics card went bad? i downloaded the catalyst software suite but it didn't fix the issue.

Make sure the cable that is going into the monitor is connected to the graphic card port. It should be connected in one of these

Make sure you have the latest drivers installed. It is highly un-likely that its gone bad

Don't use autodetect, its totally broken. Select "Desktop Graphics" then "Radeon HD series" then "Radeon HD 7xxx Series PCIe then select your operating system, click display results, and download the Catalyst Software Suite.

I downloaded the catalyst software suite and then i restarted my computer. its still not showing my radeon hd in device manager :/
not sure what else there is to do

Your connected to the gpu on the motherboard. Unplug your monitor and plug it into your graphics card, NOT your motherboard. Right now your 7870 is offline...

well i unplugged the monitor from the lowest socket to the one above it. Still not showing my radeon 7870 in device manager. This is really frustrating.

i'm sure i made sure of that when i first built the computer. there isn't a cable leaving the graphics card to the motherboard. should there be one?

yes. a power connector. if you look on the top of your card, there should be two power connectors.
