easiest thing to do is read the label on it. It probably has two 12V rails, so just add up the number of Amps for both.

Except it doesn't work that way. You can't just add the two (or more) numbers together to get the total output. Take my Delta based Earthwatts 500W PSU for example. "Two" 12v rails, each rated at 22A. According to you I should have 44A but I don't. There is a little note right beneath the PSU chart that says 12v1 and 12v2 can only output 408W at the same time. This comes out to 34A. Each rail by itself might be 22A, but the source feeding them both is only capable of sending 34A total. Another way to show thats wrong is that 44A x 12V = 528W, which is more then a 500W PSU can do.

The PSU you linked isn't any better then the ones he's suggested already. Has the red voltage selector switch, so its based on an old design. This is farther backed up by the use of an 80mm fan and 75% efficiency. It also has to much power available on the 3.3 and 5v rails, and no info on how much power is on the 12v1 and 12v2 rails total. I wouldn't use that PSU. (Emphasis added by Gupeez).

Where did I say that adding the two numbers equals the total output? I just gave him a range of amperage that should be available on the 12V rails to run a dual-core and a 9600GT. We already know the OP has a system that requires maybe a 350W PSU. I'm just trying to find a cheap power supply for this guy that I know will work for his system. If he has a 400W+ PS with at least 20 to 25A on the 12V rails, it will power what I know his system to be. I stand by that.

Anyway, back to the OP. Looking on India's eBay, I see there's not a whole bunch of variety... although the iBall 400W is one of the models available for about $15. Why not just use two power supplies? Here's a link to the mods you'd do: here. I haven't done it, but it looks like fun.

Fine, then you implied thats the total output. You told him to add them together. There is no reason to do that. Period.

I thought someone said to avoid the xtreme power series? The one linked still looked like junk. It might be better then the "iball" or some others that have been mentioned.

VIP Silver 500W is a fine PSU.
Just check for the bluish casing one.
That's a good unit.

What about CM Real Power?

These VIP PSU are locally available only In India.
There is not much info even on net.
But people have run Cards upto HD4850 on 500W VIP so I'm saying that it will handle a 9600GT.

2. VIP 500W GOLD

I dont see any thing like VIP 400 EXE,he said there is also a model called that.So ony way is to go with GOLD

And the CM 500W is 3500RS

I don't know whether it has dual rails with those ratings or not...
But if those are the ratings then it will suffice for a 9600GT.

BTW for multi rail PSU you don't just add the amps on different rails(Not equal to 31Amps,must be less than that).
