Didn't realize P4 are still so expensive!

I was going to cheap p4 with $100, but with the P4 prices I saw in pricewatch there goes that idea. Only p4 under $100 is a 1.5 ghz which isn't even in a socket 478! Only p4 around 100 with the new socket 478 is the 1.7 ghz at $112!

Seems like I will just go with a 2600 amd xp at 2.08 ghz for $95. I wonder if the p4 price will ever go under $100 ......

For these price your better of with AMD products for sure...Some P4 should drop under 100$ in october or when prescott get released...

I highly doubt that...

In the past there has never been a "good" processor that sold for less than 100 bux...ok there were 5...but those were all tualatin celerons...

You are definitly in amd territiory...if you are going to overclock i would recomend the 2500 over 2600...if you are not going to overclock...i would recomend the 2600 with 640kb of cache (barton core)...

If i put my k6 in a Ferrari it would be faster than your your pentium 4 or Athlon XP :tongue:

Look at the price of PIII's, Intel doesn't allow prices to drop below $100 for their premium product, no matter how old it is. You won't see the prices drop much more until the market demand is completely gone and people start selling them at a loss.

Yup, there ain't ever gonna be a P4 under 100$.
It's simply not an Intel thing.

That's where AMD will do you big. Definitely go for a 2600+. Heck, there'll likely be a 2700+ soon under 100$.
