Difference between 7mm and 9.5mm SSD?

Hey community,

I have pretty much some knowledge about SSDs. But recently i see some SSDs that is 7mm, and some are 9.5mm. What is the difference? Which size SSDs will fit on a desktop, and which size SSDs will fit on a laptop? Thanks.

Both sizes will fit in desktops. 7mm SSDs are for ultra-slim laptops or netbooks.

9mm is the standard for the 2.5" to 3.5" adapter brackets that are used in desktops.
