So I am currently creating my first gaming pc on pcpartpicker.com but I came across 3 Psu's that were highly rated and were also in my budget as well. One was modular, one was non modular, and another was semi modular. I really do not know what that means so can anyone please tell me!

Solution
Fully Modular Power Supplies (or PSU's) Have NO cables plugged in permanently. They come with the required cables in the box, which means if there are any cables that you don't need, you don't have to have the wire taking up extra space and looking clumsy in your system.

Non-Modular PSU's have ALL of the cables permanently attached to the PSU. None can be added or removed, for all-intensive purposes. There is no real disadvantage other than the aforesaid issue of having cables that are not in use.

Semi-Modular PSU's are just how they sound, some of the cables are fixed, some cables can be plugged in or out. The cables that are fixed are usually the obvious ones:
ATX (Motherboard) Connector
EPS (CPU) Connector
Occasionally a PCI-E...

So what would you prefer?

depends on the case Im using and the wire length that comes with the power supply. on tall cases some power supply 4/8 pin power cables are too short so you need to buy an extender cable. on small builds or ones that you want clean wires..go with full mod unit.

Occasionally a PCI-E, (For Graphics cards mostly) either a 6-Pin or a 6+2 Pin.

Personally, I have a semi-modular. Go with whatever seems best value.

Hope this helps.

Solution
Sorry to hijack the topic but I have a further question.

Regarding price, will the modular PSU be more expensive than the non modular?

On that topic could you give an example at 500-650W of the price difference between modular and non modular, having all other specifications (as quality or reputation) as similar as possible?

I dont know why dont you compare tha damn prices?
