Question Different RAM timings compatability ?

Hello, I recently bought a RAM stick the same as the one I already had so they can both run in dual channel, both are Kingston Fury Beast ddr4 16gb 3200mhz, looking at CPU-Z they are in fact in dual channel mode but in the SPD tab I noticed they are from a different manufacturer (one is Kingston and the other Micron Technology) and more importantly they have different values in the timings table. Right now they are running at 2400 where both have the same timings but I was wondering if switching to XMP-3200 mode would cause trouble since one has 20-20-39-74 and the other 18-18-36-74, is this relevant or they should work regardless of that difference?

They are not the same sticks of ram, since they have different latencies, this can and will lead to instability for your system unless you manually set both stick to operate at the same latencies though IMHO, you should be looking at a matched set of rams that come out of the box for peace of mind.

oh dang that's a shame since both were advertised as being the same thing, I'll see if I can refund it since I can't buy another one and I only have 2 slots on my mobo, but If I were to set both stick to operate at the same latency I should set both to the lowest one or highest values? ("18-18-36-74" or "20-20-39-74")

And another question, so if I understood correctly if I keep them running at 2400 they should be stable since they have the same latency in that mode, right?

The RAM sticks should be set to the lower spec of the two. So for speed this would be the lower of the two numbers, for latency, the higher of the two numbers.

I see then 3200 and "20-20-39-74", I'll give it a try and test it to see if it's stable

Thanks for the advice

Put a copy of memtest86 on a flash stick.
Boot the stick with ram at 2400 and let it run for a few mins just to make sure the stick works.
If all OK enable xmp and try to boot and run the flash stick.
If it boots and runs let it run for a few hrs with no errors allowed.

Thanks for the advice, right now I have both running at 2400 and it seems fine, I see the 32gb working in dual channel, but I'll still test it to see if everything is ok and XMP too

When you try 3200mhz 16-20-20-39,
do not forget to increase DDR voltage to 1.35V.
This will be necessary for stability.

Hello Community,

I'm new to the forum, if it is not allowed to ask what i in here and have to make a new thread please correct me.
Bought these two new Viper steel DDR4 3200 sticks. I see some differences in number i don't understand:

1) My real timings are very different than what is see in the tech.specs sheet
2) In bios XPM profile show 1.35V and also 1.38 V at the same time
What do you think?

Specs sheet seems to be for a different model.
Anyway - differences in timings from specs sheet are very minor. Not significant.

You should set DDR voltage to 1.35V manually.
Some automatic overclocking settings are probably increasing it extra.

Thanks for the feedback.

Then i am still little confused, there the SKU should be correct, i always double check. I als pasted sku in chrome with the sheet and it matched what i had ordered from here:
https://www.alternate.nl/Patriot/32-GB-DDR4-3200-Kit-werkgeheugen/html/product/1528128

Manually setting for voltage i will change or set PBO back to default. (i enabled Ryzen Master, so you right that caused the up in ram voltage in bios)

May i please have your opinion about: beside outcome of who is right "the patriot sheet or the online shop", do you find this a good memory choice for gaming in conjunction the price i paid for? :)
