Operating System: Windows XP SP2

Camera: GR-DVX4

Software: JLIP video/capture and editing

I am having trouble getting my JVC GR-DVX4 camera to operate with my PC.
It was successful with my old system running Windows 98, I now have a new PC
using Windows XP.

The software supplied with the camera, JLIP video/capture and Windows Movie
Maker both fail to communicate with the Camera. The COM port is working fine
with other devices but appears not to recognise camera.

Would it be possible to use serial to USB adaptor to overcome the problem?

Com port is for transfer of STILL images ONLY.

Use firewire, aka iLink aka IEEE 1394.
