I have a friend from another town that just called and needs some help. I
have never used ME, and she is having problems reinstalling the OS.

She was having Kernel 32 errors, lost internet connections, has been on the
phone for two days with MSM tech support etc.

Now she wants to do a format and clean install.
I will need to be on the phone and help her through this.
Is this a good link
http://www.buildyourown.org.uk/pc_installing/windows_me/overview/

or is there something better that I can use to guide her through this?

She is using MSN browser and for IP
Thanks
Bob

I just reinstalled ME a month ago and that site
seems to be accurate as best as I recall. The machine
is now gone and no longer use ME. It really isn't
complicated once you get the machine to boot from the CDRom.
For the 4100, the machine I used, push DEL to get into the BIOS
right after startup. Scroll over to the "Boot" tab (4th from Left).
Arrow down to the 6th item and make sure that the CD is either the
first boot device or if second then the floppy is first. Than exit
saving changes(the default). Then yes. Machine should now boot
to the CD. The rest is easy.

If she's going through all that trouble tell her to spend a few bucks on
the XP Home upgrade.

She has been "going to do this" for about a year now. The PC is down about
every three months.
