DirectX-files

I recently reinstalled my computer with windows xp home danish version.
Earlier I've noticed that changing the international settings from danish to
english changed the display behavier in gameplay (MS fsim 2004 a century of
flight). Therefore I changed the international setting to english prior to
installaing directx 9.0c english version. However via DXdiag I can see now
that about 30 (out of approximately 100) of the directx files are danish
eventhough I installed the english version. Is this a problem - and if it is
how do I fix it. The gameplay looks fine - but I'm not pleased with it
comparred to similar pc configurations. Please advice - thanks.

Hello!

What problems are you getting with FS2004?

I've had a bit of previous experience with Windows and different language
things installed (Russian OS with English DirectX and others) and there were
no issues with this one machine I came across - this was back in the Win 98
days however.

So I'd hazard a guess and say that may not be an issue. But don't quote me
on that one!

If you post back with more details on your computer (specifications) and the
exact problems you're seeing with FS9 we'll see if we can narrow things down
a bit.

Hi Paul

I've seen some screenshots from other fs9 users (with approx. same
configurations) and for instance the water textures looks beatiful compared
to mine. I've experimented a lot with this issue but cannot seem to get the
same result. My specs are as follows:

Intel 865PE chipset
Intel Pentium 4 HT 800 Mhz FSB 3,0 GHz
2*256 Mb ddr 400 MHz (PC3200) Dual Channel
Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 (160 Gb 7200 with 2 Mb cache)
ATI Radeon 9800 XL 128 MB 350/620 MHz

OS is win XP home (danish) sp2+
and the video drivers are radeon omega drivers 2.5.90
and directx 9.0c (english)?!

I don't know if this can narrow the problem - but I'm eager to get this
problem solved. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Chris
Thanks for joining... Yes I'm running the 9.1 version - and you're right it
does solve quite some issues. However it doesn't solve my water texture
problem (I didn't notice any difference anyway). Any suggestions are
appreciated. Thanks.

I would suggest posting your issues to http://www.simflight.com/ where
they've got really active forums and lots of solutions.

Hello again.

I've just fired up FS9 and given it a look over, I was looking for the
option that turned on the pretty water (usually setting high under the water
detail slider). But I've also noticed that I'm not getting any of the usual
effects, sun reflecting in the water etc, this is with my Radeon 9800 Pro.

So I think it's down to the drivers being at fault, I'm using the latest
ones up on the ATI website, so it seems they've broken something in them.

So I'd recommend trying some of the older drivers out, 4.7s and below for
starters:

http://www.ati.com/support/products/radeonwinxppreviousdrivers.html

Hope that sorts it.

Hi Paul
Thanks for your suggestions. Will try and downgrade the drivers tomorrow.
Are you running xp as well or are you running 98? Which version and language
is your directx?

Talk to you later.
