I wanna buy a laptop to replace my current PC (i5 6500, gtx 1050 2gb, 24gb ram). I have been looking and i really liked the acer helios 500 (i7 8750h 16gb ram, gtx 1070). It's quite heavy considering i will bring it to university with me, but the major dissapointment was the battery life. Is there a way to disable the gpu while i am at university so that it wont suck power and extend battery life and only use the gpu for gaming and video editing?
I will use the laptop for audio editing in fl studio, video editing in davinci resolve, basic stuff like office and web browsing and of course, programming and web developement. I know its a bit overkill but i want to keep this laptop for all my 4 years of university.
Also, this is a 6 core cpu. When I'm at university i will mostly use it to take notes and do some light programming. Can i also disable some cpu cores so it behaves as a quad or dual core to save some battery?
