This is assuming you have your tower standing correctly.
The Motherboards HDMI will be vertical, and will have a white...
It could be a bug in the BIOS, try taking out the CMOS battery from the motherboard for about 30 seconds to reset the BIOS and then try again. Also, try updating your BIOS to the latest one for best results too.

I really do not know, it's plugged into the only the HDMI slot at the back of the case and into my monitor. There is also no signal, the monitor continues to count down from 5 mins to 0 saying no signal then switches off.

Will this reset the overclocking on the cpu?

OK first and foremost, make sure you know if your plugging the HDMI in to the motherboard or in to the video card. Both your motherboard and your video card have HDMI ports. Assuming it was built correctly your board should be defaulting to your video card. Make sure your HDMI is plugged in to your video card and not your motherboard before you try starting anything up. From there we can start trying to diagnosis your stuff.

Hey thanks, I've just had to nip out to visit family, I will be in later now, I will post an update on here when I'm home, also how do I check that it's connected to the video card?

Yes, it will reset all settings in the BIOS to default settings meaning you will have to OC yourself again.

This is assuming you have your tower standing correctly.
The Motherboards HDMI will be vertical, and will have a white DVI connector on one side of it and a blue USB 3 connector on the other side.
The video cards HDMI will be horizontal and will have a set of dual black DVI ports on one side of it, and a display port on the other side of it. It'll also be lower (probably about midway) down the case than the motherboards HDMI port.
