Disabling on-board sound on a K7N2 Delta-ILSR

Hi,

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I've just bought an MSI K7N2
Delta-ILSR ready to install over the weekend and I can't see any obvious way
of turning off the on-board sound so that I can use my sound card instead.
All the motherboards I've come across before have a jumper to this.

Hello Richard,

The setting is in your BIOS, please read the manual that came with
your board.

If you do not have a manual, please go here
http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/mainboard/mbd/pro_mbd_detail.php?UID=436
and download the latest online version in PDF format.

If you don't have a sound card better than the Audigy, then the
onboard sound is superior. If you are only using the card for the
gameport, then I can understand.

Alternatively, you can also visit MSI forums for nVidia Chipset Based

Still trying to work out why it has an auto/disabled setting for a modem
it doesn't have on-board, it took me ages to figure out why my
external modem wouldn't work. I assume they use the same BIOS for
different boards. It's a bit odd for the default setting to be auto for
a feature it doesn't have.

Thanks for the link. At least trying to search a computer file is easier
than the manual.

I have a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz card which I've been using for a couple
of years. For the moment I'm using the on-board sound and have to admit
it's damn good. In the future I'm looking to get a studio quality card
and I don't mean the stuff that creative labs put out.

its something to do with the workings for the modem being on-board but you
need the ACR (audio/communications riser) card to actually use it. when you
plug the riser card in, the 'auto' setting picks up on it and hey
presto......
