Buy GTX 960 ASUS Strix 4GB now or wait for the Pascal GTX 1060 series? I have my summer holidays now and may not be able to build a PC when pascal releases due to lack of time because of college. Also, I really wanna game this summer, cause its literally my last summer vacation.

Would buying a 960 would be a bad decesion now bcoz of Game Devs and drivers concentrating on DX 12 or will I be future-proofed for the next 2 years to play it at atleast 1400x900 @ high settings @ 40-60 fps ?

But the 950 is hardly a upgrade from a 750ti. If you want to see performance increase the 960 is where you'll need to be. You would be fine with some tweaking but honestly a 970 can be hard for hardly anymore than a $960. 970's go for under $300 when on sale.

Depends on resolution though. Scaling is a bit weird on 1080p.

The 4Gb RAM comes at a premium. GTX 960 models are still 2GB out there. Also, why compare an OC 960 to a 950? Compare an OC 960 to an OC 950.

I also don't know what benchmarks you've been looking at but 50% faster is false. In gtav 1080 basic settings there was a 20 fps difference between the 750ti and the 950. Shadows of mordor there was less than 5, dragon age less than 10, 12 in alien isolation etc etc. point is the 960 is worth the $184 price tag it has. The gtx 950 is $159 on newegg right now so i mean $25 gets you alot going from 950 to 960

The cheapest full size 950 on newegg is $144.99......The cheapest new 960 is $169 right now. The performance difference in the 2 for $25? Thats a no brainer to get the 960.

Plus, you can find 4GB GTX 960s for under $200.

Aside from fighting here on thread about 20 bucks up and down, I would say don't wait if you want to play during summer. 40-60fps is possible on 1440x900, my wife is getting 50-60fps on medium-high-highest settings in RoTR, The Division is solid 60, GTA 5 is little baby etc. Not really future-proofed but not less then Pascal I wanna believe.

Maybe. Keep in mind I'm going to be buying a 4k screen aswell. Now that I'm going to be working, I need to keep my budget in check. :)

1. 4k monitors are now cheaper than 144hz 1440P panels.
2. Gaming isn't all that I do. I want the 4k for when I'm working and schooling. Plus when I can have 4 tom's hardware tabs open at the same time, it helps with moderating. :)
3. Lastly, for gaming. I have gone from fast games like FPS shooters to slower ones like World Of Warships, so 144hz isn't necessary.
