Discussion: PS4 joins the KBM for console 'revolution'

The Hori Tactical Assault 4 was recently announced as an officially licensed Keyboard and Mouse for the PlayStation 4. It will be available for purchase on October 9th.

With both Xbox and PlayStation getting KBMs, console gamers are gonna need to move their consoles to their desk if they already haven't, or figure out how to sit properly on the couch to get horrible wrist injuries from trying to use such devices in really horribly non ergonomic positions.

At least playing FPS games on consoles might be fair game with PC users now. Though the extensive aim assist on consoles will probably remain even with a KBM.

If they make it any bigger they could use it for RTS as well.

Although I suppose there's a hardware thingy somewhere that only allows for a number of keys approximately similar to that of a controller.

Interesting looking design, but I gotta say, that's not much of a KBM setup. They literally just took the controller buttons and arranged them in a keyboard-like way on a tiny keypad. The placement of that D-pad is also kind of odd. Not really sold on this. Seems to be aimed mostly at the FPS crowd, which I am not a part of, so maybe I'm just biased.

In all honesty, RTS games could stand to be less button heavy, or more multi use/contextual buttons.

But this would be a good avenue for like the Civilization games to be on console, and would probably be good for some casual relaxing strategy games from the couch.
It says the keys will be programmable, and there is a 3-profile switch on it as well.
Since it's gonna be officially licensed I assume the PS3 will get an update that will let you configure what button does what before you get ingame, and possibly while ingame as well because you can use the PS button to bring up the OS.
