Hi,

I've built a few systems before and they all went smoothly. This is the first time I've seen this message after DMI pool data..."DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER"

When I press enter (with XP x64 in the drive) I can hear the optical drive spinning but it just goes straight back to "DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER" line.

Can someone help me troubleshoot this?

Relevant system specs:
i7-920
GIGABYTE GA-EX58-UD3R
WD6401AALS 640GB 7200 RPM
HP Black 22X DVD+R 22X DVD-R IDE 22X DVD Burner

Any help would be greatly appreciate.

Thank you!

do you have the jumpers set correctly on the hard drive?

Make sure you using the correct sata port to connect to on your motherboard.

Make sure your set to use sata controller vs ide controller in your bios

That's where I'd start

Thanks, Kubes.

1. What should the HDD jumpers be set to?
2. How do I set the SATA controller?
3. How do I make sure the boot sequence is correct?

Thanks again.

Answers to ur questions:
1) set it to master
2) you'll have to read your motherboard manuel. A lot of motherboards have two sata ports dedicated to raid (ussualy an different color) and then a bunch of others dedicated to other devices. This is where you want your hdd to be pluged into.
3) You'll need to go into your bios to check this like cmichael138 has noted.
