Display picture -- changing the display size

I just had the oportunity to chat with a person that was displaying in his
messenger a picture 3 times bigger than usual display size in the messenger.
I wonder how can this be done once I dont see any option in terms of size for
the custom picture on display.

I do wish MS would include features like Auto-reply in MSN.
