what do you call the monitor resolution for 1024 x 768 and 800 x 600 ??

1024 x 768 is XGA, and 800 x 600 is SVGA.

Not really. That nomenclature is mostly a holdover from television standards and not used much outside them. The P designation stands for Progressive, to differentiate it from Interlaced. Computers switched to progressive scan as default and higher resolutions decades before television, which still hasn't completely switched over. Official broadcast standards stopped at 1080i in the US last I checked.
