Question Displayport 1.4

Thats an old article, they haven't bothered to update.

Displayport and cables are backwards compatible. And to take advantage of features included with DP 1.4 both ends has to match so both gpu and monitor need DP 1.4.

When it comes to cables it's either HBR, HBR2 or HBR3. DP version numbers are only relevant to the port itself and not the cable. Some features included in advanced DP iterations like 4k 144Hz or 8k 60Hz may need increased bandwidth and an HBR 3 cable may be needed.

For 1440p 165Hz / 4K 60Hz HBR2 is fine.

Yeah most are, i don't think HBR3 cables are necessary yet. They're just copper wires after all, just difference in gauge afaik. Any DP cable would work with v1.4.

Thank you all for the answers.

OK, I'm confused about this ad which says 8k UHD in the title and then "up to 4k resolution" in the text below it. I don't know what to make of that. And I'm also wondering whether I paid too much since I see 25 foot displayport cables for about $15 to $20 but somehow missed them at time of purchase. (I'm usually pretty good at digging around.) In a different article about HDMI the author said there is no performance benefit to an expensive HDMI and I'm kinda thinking it would have to be that way for displayport, but I don't want to leap to a premature conclusion. If I did it right the ad should be below:
