I bought a Gigabyte M32UC monitor that came with a DisplayPort cable.

I am having an issue with sometimes having a signal (25% of time when PC boots) and not having a signal (75% of time). See thread here: https://forums.tomshardware.com/thr...her-times-says-displayport-no-signal.3820450/

I believe there is a problem with the DisplayPort cable itself. The cable will not detach from either the monitor or the GPU. I am pressing the button on the cable as hard as I can, but the button does not move at all.

See images of DisplayPort cable below:

Any suggestions? I am considering purchasing a needle nose pliers to try to produce more force to get the button to give.

Thanks!

Yes, but as I stated in the original post, "I am pressing the button on the cable as hard as I can, abut the button does not move at all."

From those photos it looks like the card isn't quite centered in the slot and the DP connector is resting on the metal of the case. This will cause the latch to hang tight. Open the case and remove the screw holding the back bracket to the case and try again. Having the connector cocked such will also cause connection problems.

Is the fat side of the DP end where the lock is on the GPU sandwiching the case between slots. Had to deal with this one time and took a razor blade and had to shave down the DP end plastic piece that plugs into GPU to give wiggle play to get the lock to unlatch.

I won't ever buy another cable with a lock like that again.

Don't use pliers to yank it out you will only damage your GPU

Thanks for the reply! Could you please elaborate on this? I'm a bit confused regarding your first two sentences and don't quite follow.

Thanks for the comment. I'll try this out.

Although, the GPU brackets were aligned and screwed in a manner that was seemingly the only way possible.

There is definitely a latch mechanism on a DP cable.
My suggestion is to turn off power to the pc.
Loosen the two screws holding down the gpu to the case.
That lets you tilt the card away a bit while still in the slot and giving you a bit more room to press the latch.
Push in a bit to let the lach unlock, then pull.
A little wiggling of the connector during the process might help.

I haven't tried these suggestions yet, but I have a feeling they won't work. The other end of my DisplayPort cable that is attached to my monitor is also stuck and also has a button that won't press inward. Therefore, I don't think it's a problem with the seating of the GPU, case, etc., but rather a defect in the latch mechanism of the cable itself.

So to understand my point in my last post

Put your thumb on your desk like when you have to give a thumb print. Now put your other thumb on top of your bottom thumb and press down hard and try to pull your bottom thumb out. The pressure from being forced down makes it hard to slide it out.

Once the latch locked in your DP cable on GPU side and your monitor, for understanding what's going on is the thumb pressure lock.
That's where I used the razer blade and shaved the plastic back on the very end of the DP cable where it kisses the GPU and the PC case. Or to make it clear and if were talking wooden thumbs shaved off skin where it touches the table. By doing that I took away the hold the top thumbs pressure was preventing me from removing bottom thumb.

That's the result that your will get with the lock as well on the DP cable if you shave the end, wiggle room.
