Displayport to DVI

Hi!

I recently bought a DP to DVI cable, but my pc will only allow 60Hz through it. It looks weird to me since it's DP 1.1 to DVI-D which should, as far as I'm informed, run 144Hz.

The cable is connecting an MSI 1080 Gaming X to a BenQ XL2411

Can anyone tell me if I'm wrong, and tell me why? Because it doesn't make sense to me.

Thanks!

Why would you use Display Port to DVI adapter, when you have native DVI port on the graphics card?

You need a DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI active adapter, not just any DP to DVI adapter/cable.

Ok, I'm kinda new to all this screen res and refresh rate.

The only active adapter I can find here in Denmark, is capable of 1920x1200@60Hz. Can it run 1080p at 144Hz?

Check manufacturers support web site for supported resolutions of the adapter.
If max is 1920x1200@60Hz, then it can't run 1080p @144Hz.

As I told before - those adapters are pricey. If, the one you found, costs significantly less than €150, then most likely it can't support high refresh rates.
This one will do it (but only up to 1080p@120Hz):
