Hi, I just got a graphics card with 3 DisplayPort, 1 HDMI and 1 DVI-D port.
I also have one monitor which supports HDMI and DP. A second, old one which only supports VGA(connected to my motherboard for now planning to replace with another HDMI/DP monitor).
I just learned of this inexplicable behavior of DisplayPort that it is PnP and will destroy the windows extended desktop when I turn it off. So I switched to HDMI.
Here's the question. If I get another monitor, and use a DisplayPort to HDMI adapter, will that PnP issue still be present, as in windows' extended desktop will be removed on monitor off?
Or is using a DVI-D to HDMI adapter a better option (if so, what are the limitations of such a connection such as refresh rate or resolution)?
Or alternatively if there is a way to fix the behavior of DisplayPort (unlikely from what I've found so far)
Edit (System specs):
OS: Windows 10 (Update 1809)
GPU: Palit GTX 1070 TI
Monitors: Dell P2418D
