Displayport vs DVI?

Just bought an Asus 144hz monitor and was wondering the difference between the two and SHOULD i get one over the other? Thanks.

I too wondered this. I think DisplayPort has more bandwidth but realistically speaking if you only have a DVI cable there isn't any point in buying a DP cable. Unless of course you're running a very high resolution.

Well it doesn't really matter assuming both support the resolution and refresh rate you want to archive. For 1440p 144hz you would have to use display port, for gsync or freesync you have to us display port on most monitors. If you want it to carry an audio signal for the most part you would have to use display port or HDMI. For 1080p 144hz it does not really matter.
