DisplayPort vs HDMI vs DVI vs VGA?

Solution
No. G-Sync changes your monitor's refresh rate to match the framerate your GPU is putting out to eliminate tearing anywhere from 30 FPS up to the 165 maximum FPS that monitor can display. It is much better than VSYNC.

The monitor seemed to have come with some display ports.
If I remember correctly, some displayports are better then others (4k / better refresh rate)

Do I need to buy / look into a display port that not only has the capability to go 2k but can display up to 165 hz?

That is a G-Sync monitor. G-Sync only works over DisplayPort. If you use DVI or HDMI you will be giving up the biggest benefit of that monitor and the reason it costs $800.

Most monitors include the proper cable. I know my G-Sync monitor had a DisplayPort cable in the box.

If I were to use it for G-Sync will I be locked at 60 fps?
The reason i'm asking is because I know v-sync is locked at 60.
