Even though it is a best bang per gig right now, I would personallee look at WD's 300 gig drive. It is much quieter (yes it is) and cooler, and I am sure in 3 years you'll be looking for 1 tera drive, not for a replacement (what I mean is that warranty after 3 years is useless)

..this is very useful and helpful place for information...

No. 2 more years of warranty after 3 years will make this disk easier to sell with the 2 years warranty remaining.. in case you'll want to get that tetrabytes HDD...

And speaking of tetrabytes.. I have not less that 680 gigs of HDD in my system.. and believe me... it is not easy to manage that amount of data and when you start to forget to do some cleanup, it can become quite a mess. Now, I'm thinking about selling a 200 gigs and a 40 gigs... I should be able to survive with "only" 440 gigs.. and some DVD backups!

I haven't seeing anyone in my "hood" buying used HDs, bad idea to begin with (that's what made my conclusion on the issue). I did not take in consideration that there are some very cheap peepel are still out there :*(

On the other hand they ALL become noisy after couple of years, I don't keep those drives, caz me is getting scared about my files becoming deaf and unusefool after a while listening to that HD screaming into their ears all the time ;o)
