Hello, I've looked around and I can't seem to find an answer directly tailored to the issue I'm having.
I built a brand new computer last night, and everything started off fine. First I will give the specs
AMD FX-8320 Vishera 3.5GHz 8-Core
8 GB's DDR3 RAM Kingston
Coolmax 700 Watt ATX PSU Bronze Certified
XFX Core Edition Radeon 7850 Graphics Card
GIGABYTE GA-970A-DS3 AM3+ AMD Motherboard
SanDisk 128 GB SDD (used for OS, and programs I want to launch quickly)
WD 1.5 TB (For everything else)
Windows 7 Ultimate
The Problem:
I am almost positive the issue is graphics card related but I hate to jump to the conclusion that the card is just bad.
Computer runs amazing, boots fast, however, I saw sudden lines flickering (after I played one round of League of Legends to test performance) on the main desktop before suddenly pixelated blocks started showing up all over the screen. Eventually the screen will go completely red or blue, assumedly freezing the computer.
This does not happen in Safe Mode (I'm on the computer right now typing this in safe mode), and it doesn't start until I at least get to the Windows start up screen.
Things I have checked:
1. Made sure all fans including the video card fans were running.
2. Checked Case and CPU temp (case 23 degrees, cpu 34. The computer hasn't done much).
3. I took out and put the graphics card back in, checked power connections
4. Took the RAM out put it back in, ensuring it's in the Channel A slot. (since it's one module)
5. Re-installed Video Drivers
What I'm doing now is updating the BIOS, but highly doubt it is that.
Does anyone have any other suggestions? I'd hate to
A. Send the video card back after I just got it
B. Get the replacement, put it in, and see the same issue after having to wait a week or so.
It wouldn't be the cable would it? I'm even tempted to try my HDMI =/
Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
Update: I decided not to screw with my BIOS, and am now putting my old Nvidia GTX 430 in to see if I fixes the problem (It should). I'll be sending the other in for replacement if so.
