I have a DNS server (Windows 2008) set up for a small domain (65 computers). I use DHCP to set the DNS servers to the internal ip address of the DNS server, and then list our ISP's DNS servers. So it looks like this in IPCONFIG /ALL:

DNS SERVERS:
192.168.0.3
66.180.96.12
64.238.96.12

On the DNS server, I have a static IP address and it lists the two ISP servers for the two DNS servers.

Do I have this set up correctly?

I do not have any forwarding set up. Should I list the ISP DNS servers as fowarders instead of in DHCP?

Overall, DNS is working OK - just want to make sure I have it set up properly.

Solution
Have you DNS server pointed toward the two ISP DNS servers. Have DHCP list your internal DNS first and one of the ISP DNS servers second. This way you can get around on the internal network and if the internal DNS goes down, internet will still work.
