I recently switched from a 75hz 1080p monitor to 165hz 1080p monitor .. But my GPU only has 2 ports Hdmi and DVI so I tried to connect with the HDMI which I got from the old monitor and i actually got the 165hz but it goes black screen randomly.. it used to happen with the 75hz monitor too just before me switching it. But it's happening more in the 165hz monitor. Is it because of the HDMI cable or HDMI not actually supporting 165hz..

And yes, quality of the HDMI cable is a factor. You might pick up an HDMI 2.0 cable from a somewhat reputable source. Amazon basics are usually decent.

165hz should not necessarily be supported, officially it would 1080p 144hz and you would need a minimum of HDMI 1.3 on both ends. HDMI 1.4 is much more common and would also support this and likely has the bandwidth for 1080p 165hz.

HDMI 2.0 would support modes as high as 1440p at 144hz. 2.1 would do the same for 4K.
