[SOLVED] Do I need a good gpu to watch 4k videos and movies?

So I'm planning on building a family pc for my house (mainly for use of media consumption) and I'm just wondering if having a gtx 1660 will even benefit in watching 4k videos or if it's only reliant on wifi and will be useless.

having a good gpu is important and a 1660 would be more then enough for 4k video playback i wouldnt recomend doing 4k over wifi id recomend a wired connection for best performance

as long as the hdmi port on the graphics card is 2.0a or higher it will handle 4k video a gtx 1660 has 2.0b

gaming wise just throwing this in there good 1080p card and entry level 2k

also a factor depends on your tvs inputs or monitor if using a monitor use one with display port

that being said most movies arent above 60 frames due to tv standards

no problem if you can though go with the 1660 ti since its got faster memory and pretty much same power consumption
