Do I need a wifi PCI card if I have an ethernet connection?

Just doing routine maintenance on my pc. I have internet provided by an ethernet cable into my mother board and I also have a wifi PCI card. Is it necessary? I would really rather have the PCI slot back. It's also a horrible green colour so if it is useful I may buy a more aesthetically pleasing one. Which of course I don't really want to do. Cheers.

Be very careful with buying those tiny wifi dongles. Most put small size and low power usage over performance. The small size limits the size of antenna so you get less coverage. Because they want to save battery they transmit at lower power which also reduces coverage. They are also totally inside you computer which has lots of metal blocking the signals.
