Do i need bios upgrade to run fx 6300 on Gigabyte GA-78LMT-S2 Motherboard

Do i need bios upgrade to run fx 6300 on Gigabyte GA-78LMT-S2 Motherboard.
And also what is going to happen if i run 1600 mhz ram on it.

no no no...you need to update the bios before installing your new cpu, the updated bios will recognise your old cpu and your new one as well. beware though, before doing anything....backup your current bios, then update to a new one...after that power your computer off (even from the mains) and then put your new cpu in, then reboot the computer and you're done...similar post https://ca.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20070719165331AAu9vU7

oh right ok i apologise i misunderstood you. You dont have an old to put into the motherboard, both the motherboard and cpu will be new, well in that case these are supported on gigabyte's website http://www.gigabyte.com/support-downloads/cpu-support-popup.aspx?pid=4311 ...here is a similar thread regarding this exact motherboard and cpu http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-1870111/gigabyte-78lmt-s2p-motherboard-supports-6300.html ....so using another computer, you put the new bios onto a usb stick, then you build your new system with the fx-6300 in the motherboard, you go into the BIOS and then update it from the usb stick...its not that the cpu wont work without the updated bios, it just wont work optimally

i am going to buy the mobo and the cpu
put the cpu on the motherboard
start my computer
and by pressing del key
i will go to bios
and will find my usb device that has newer bios in it
and then install it
then i am going restart my computer and put windows in it

and everything will work happily after that.

I think you don't need update the BIOS to run the fx6300 on GA-78LMT-S2, because the MB need at least the F5 version to run the fx6300, and you can see the BIOS F5 was released on 10/19/2012, which is more than 1-1/2 year ago. You just buy the MB and cpu, install the cpu and boot the PC.

are you sure because its written in red on the gigabyte website that i need a bios update to enable AM3+ AMD FX-Series

check the BIOS version before you update it. If the bios version is the 'F5' one, then you should be fine, since the fx 6300 requires a bios version of 'F5', however if its any older than that 'F4, F3 etc'...then you need to update it
