I'm getting a 9700k that I hope to overclock to 5ghz

PSU is a new Corsair RM750x that comes with two 4+4 pin cpu connectors

Motherboard is the Gigabyte z390 ultra that has a 4+4 cpu power and an additional 2+2 (split half the 4+4 connector)

But do I need this additional power to overclock to 5ghz is there any drawbacks to using this?

Many thanks

Solution
There's no drawbacks to using it, no.

The board will run with just the 4+4, and should overclock ok. Should improve power delivery using the 4+4EPS and 4pin additional.

There's really no reason NOT to use it, if you have a motherboard that supports it AND a PSU with an additional EPS cable.
